For the past several years as I've committed each new year to the Lord through a time of fasting and praying, God usually reveals a "𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘠𝘦𝘢𝘳 - 𝘞𝘖𝘛𝘠" that helps clarify my intention and focus throughout the year. My WOTY for 2025 is 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘!
As I was praying into this WOTY, I felt assured of the following:
🤲🏽 God will give me the 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 to 𝘥𝘰 all that He has assigned me to do in this season.
🤲🏽 God will give me the 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 to 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘪𝘷𝘦 what He has purposed for me to receive in this season.
🤲🏽 God will grant me the supernatural 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘 to 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 out of my overflow and be a blessing to others.
😩 Recently as I felt the burden of things piling upon me, I heard myself exclaim out loud "𝘐 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘈𝘗𝘈𝘊𝘐𝘛𝘠".
🤔 This exclamation made me pause and wonder why.
So I went back to God's instructions & warnings that came with this word of promise:
1️⃣ 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐨𝐧. Continually seek for the discernment and courage to say 𝐍𝐎 to seemingly ‘𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥’ things so that I may say 𝐘𝐄𝐒 to the ‘𝘎𝘰𝘥’ things He has purposed for me.
2️⃣ 𝐃𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬. Keep my faith high to expect blessings and provision from God, not man. "One moment of God's favor is worth a lifetime of labor" - Mike Murdock
3️⃣ 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐆𝐨𝐝 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞, 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐞. I must stay connected to the True Vine so that my cup stays full as I pour from my overflow into others.
I realized that I was out of alignment with #1 - I found myself saying 𝐘𝐄𝐒 to things that I knew should have been a 𝐍𝐎.
So, I'm doing a 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐓 which requires me to re-evaluate what is on my plate or in my queue so that I can focus my limited capacity on those areas that represent the highest and best use of my time & talents.
Will some people be disappointed with my NO?
Sure they will...
Nevertheless, I'm learning to place a greater weight on winning God's approval by stewarding my assignment well.
"𝘈𝘮 𝘐 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘭 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, 𝘰𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥? 𝘖𝘳 𝘢𝘮 𝘐 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦? 𝘐𝘧 𝘐 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦, 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵." 𝐆𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝟏:𝟏𝟎
🚫 By the way, I'm using the 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐓𝐎 𝐃𝐎 𝐋𝐈𝐒𝐓 that I created to help my clients through this type of evaluation exercise. Here's an editable copy if you want to try it: https://docs.google.com/document/d/17jI-LPgOxnjandi8T5gWZBG6Ly4ZKPFA/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=104690526379147912473&rtpof=true&sd=true
Recognizing my limitations and managing my capacity accordingly is not a sign of weakness or failure - it is a gift that I am consciously choosing to give to myself and to those that I'm called to serve in this season. 🎁
