Control What You Can Control

Updated: Sep 30, 2022

I was introduced to this phrase at a stage in my career when I felt the enormous burden of driving significant improvements in both business performance and organizational culture:

Following these words of wisdom helped me avoid the unnecessary frustration resulting from: โฃ

  1. accepting whatever came my way instead of appropriately exerting the control or influence that was rightfully mine

  2. spinning my wheels over things that were completely out of my control

This picture helps illustrate those things that we CAN control vs. those that we CANNOT.

I recently had to remind myself of this lesson, release myself from the pressure of trying to control the things that I could not, and accept the responsibility for those things that I could control and influence.

What shifts do you need to make to apply this concept to your life and work right now?
